10 Simple Organisation Tips for The Busy Gals

In today’s fast-paced world, staying organized can feel like a daunting task, especially for busy women juggling multiple responsibilities.

However, with the right strategies, you can improve your productivity and maintain a balanced lifestyle.

Here are ten simple organisation tips to help you streamline your tasks and boost your efficiency.

1. Start with a Daily Plan

Before you even start your day, know what is the one thing that could create a domino effect on everything else. Try not to create a gigantic to-do list. One (maybe two) is all I want you to focus on!! That is your only task to achieve today – everything else is a bonus.

2. Time Block your Calendar

Use it to schedule your important task. Make sure that no one can book over this time – protect it! I like to set a 4 hour block at the beginning of my day, that is protected for my really important tasks (sometimes it’s personal, sometimes it’s business). All the other secondary tasks and commitments fall after that time….always.

3. Declutter Your Space

A cluttered space can lead to a cluttered mind. Take time to declutter your workspace and home. Keep only the essentials and find a designated place for everything. A clean and organised environment can significantly boost your productivity and create better mental clarity.

4. Adopt the Two-Minute Rule

Once you’ve done the really important thing. You can trickle into the other tasks. This is when the two-minute rule comes to play. If a task takes less than two minutes to complete, do it immediately. This simple rule can prevent small tasks from piling up and becoming overwhelming. Whether it’s replying to an email or tidying up your desk, taking immediate action can keep your to-do list manageable.

5. Batch Similar Tasks

Batching similar tasks together can save you time and increase efficiency. Group tasks like answering emails, making phone calls, or running errands and handle them in one go. This minimises task-switching and helps you stay focused.

6. Set the End Goal

It’s crucial to know what you’re shooting for. Make sure you’re really clear on the end of the tunnel vision. From there you can reverse engineer and set realistic and achievable goals to get you there. This approach not only makes the big tasks less intimidating but also gives you a sense of accomplishment as you complete each step.

7. Make a Star Chart…..or something like that

Write the game plan down. On a whiteboard, diary, etc. Whatever suits you and your environment. There are also an outrageous amount of apps and platforms to help you too. These sources can help you manage tasks, collaborate with others, and keep your mind organised. Experiment different tools to find what works best for you.

8. Take Breaks

Rest is crucial. Regular breaks are essential for maintaining productivity. Schedule short breaks between tasks to recharge. Techniques like the Pomodoro Technique (one of my favourites!), which involves working for 25 minutes followed by a 5-minute break, can help you stay focused and prevent burnout.

9. Breathe

Doing a simple breath activity and mindfulness can improve your focus and reduce stress. Tackling big goals can take a lot of mental strain, so we need to balance that with mental rest and rejuvenation. Take a few minutes each day to practice mindfulness or meditation. This can help you stay present, manage anxiety, and improve your focus.

10. Reflect and Adjust

Regularly evaluate your strategies to see what’s working and what isn’t. Be flexible and willing to adjust your methods as needed. It’s all about perseverance and consistency.
